Suspect Arrested In Deadly Dart Container Plant Shooting: Sheriff

Authorities said the suspect in a deadly shooting at the Dart Container facility outside Atlanta was arrested in Alabama.

CONYERS, GA — Officials say the suspect in a deadly shooting Friday morning at the Dart Container Corp. plant in Conyers has been taken into custody. He was found at a bus station in Alabama, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office.

Cameron Golden was arrested in Birmingham, Alabama, authorities reported around 1 p.m. Authorities said they planned to charge him with murder.

Golden was a temporary employee for Dart Container. He is accused of killing Taurus Andrews, another worker, during a shift change, The Associated Press reported.

Authorities classified the incident as a workplace shooting and not an active-shooter situation. Officials said they did not know what the motive was or if the shooting was targeted. The plant, about 25 miles east of Atlanta, has about 300 employees.

After the shooting, schools and nearby businesses took security precautions.

Rockdale County Schools announced that nearby schools — Rockdale County High School, Rockdale Magnet School and C.J. Hicks Elementary as well as transportation offices — were on lockdown after 8:30 a.m.

“All of our students and staff are safe," school officials said in a statement. "No visitors are allowed on campus at this time."

By 12:15 p.m., the school system reported that the lockdowns were lifted and schools had returned to normal operations.
