Man Dies After Jumping From Ambulance On Downtown Connector

The bizarre incident happened Monday morning around 5 am, and caused the massive highway to be shut down for a short time.

ATLANTA, GA -- An angry patient jumped out of an ambulance early Monday morning onto the downtown connector and died after being struck by two vehicles on the highway.

The fatality also led to I-75/85 northbound's temporary shutdown near University Avenue. Traffic was at a standstill for about an hour.

Andrew Hill was being taken to Grady Memorial Hospital when he got out of the ambulance and ran across five lanes of traffic, according to Atlanta police. A car first struck Hill after he jumped out of the ambulance, according to the AJC, and then a pickup truck struck and pinned him.
