- If you're heading out today, expect bitter cold, windy and dry conditions. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for early today in the northernmost counties of North Georgia as well as in the state's mountainous areas and northern metro Atlanta counties. "That extends down into the very northern edges of the metro, like Cherokee County," National Weather Service meteorologist Dylan Lusk told Patch. "Wind chill values on Saturday morning in those areas will be from 5 to -10 degrees F — feels like temperatures. If you have exposed skin, you need to be careful how long you're out in the open air." The big chill thaws by Sunday, however, with sunny skies and temperatures rebounding back to the 50s, National Weather Service forecasters say. (Atlanta Patch)
- With the coldest air of the season on its way to North Georgia, city leaders are opening warming centers in metro Atlanta through the weekend. Temperatures will drop into the low 20s in the city of Atlanta, and outlying suburbs will be colder. In response, city leaders are opening two emergency warming centers that will remain open until Sunday morning at 11 a.m. One is located at the Old Adamsville Recreation Center at 3404 Delmar Lane NW. Another is opening at the Central Park Recreation Center, 400 Merritts Avenue NE. Transportation to both locations will be provided, with people who need a ride advised to head to the Gateway Center at 275 Pryor Street SW at 7 p.m. (11Alive.com WXIA)

As part of the new partnership, 2 Chainz, who great up in College Park, will collaborate on a custom co-branded Krystal restaurant in the heart of his hometown neighborhood, and will also help develop a "Luxe Line" of premium food products for the brand, to be premiered at his restaurant. - Three people have been indicted by a Fulton County grand jury for setting fire to the Wendy's restaurant where 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed by an Atlanta police officer in June 2020. Natalie Hanna White, Chisom Kingston and John Wesley Wade were each charged with two counts of arson and one count of conspiracy to commit arson by the Fulton County District Attorney's Office, according to court records. Prosecutors said the three set fire to the restaurant, at 125 University Ave., a day after Brooks was shot by a police officer during a DUI arrest attempt. The shooting contributed to the spark of national unrest that summer over social justice as police killings of Botham Jean, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd led to protests and sometimes riots.
