ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta metro area is home to three of the best burger joints in America, according to recent articles by Thrillist and Food and Wine. Read on to see where they are, and get ready for a juicy bite.

Thrillist's "national burger critic" Kevin Alexander rated burger joints in California, Oregon, Colorado, Texas and all over the country, including one right here in Atlanta.

Fred's Meat and Bread at 99 Krog St. NE, Atlanta, sat at No. 7 out of of the 31 burger joints Alexander included in his list, which is in no particular order. Their burgers are "like a grilled cheese with meat inside it," Alexander said, and will keep you coming back.

Next in Atlanta is the simply named "burger" at Holeman and Finch, 2277 Peachtree Road NW — and it may be harder to get than you think. According to Food and Wine, which placed the burger at number nine of 28, chef Linton Hopkins and his team make only 24 burgers a day once the restaurant opens at 5 p.m. The off-the-menu item is highly sought after.

Bringing up the rear of Food and Wine's list of 28 great burgers is the Farm Burger, at, well, Farm Burger, 410 W Ponce de Leon Ave. They top the grass-fed, locally sourced meat with Vermont aged and smoked white cheddar, caramelized onions and a house sauce. If you want to "build it," according to Food and Wine, you'll get a topping like cured lardo, roasted bone marrow or oxtail marmalade.
