Atlanta Based Delta Air Lines Loses $2.8 Billion, Cuts Flights

Delta Air Lines shared Tuesday that pre-scheduled August flights have been cut in half due to the pandemic.

ATLANTA, GA — Delta Air Lines shared Tuesday that the company was experiencing a $5.7 billion net loss for the second quarter. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the airline is cutting its workforce through buyouts and early retirements.

More than 17,000 employees have signed up to take early retirements or buyouts, according to Delta.

CNN reported that the airline had planned to add 1,000 flights a day to its August schedule. CEO Ed Bastian said they will now only add 500 because of the increasing coronavirus cases and new quarantine rules on travelers.
