Atlanta Families Can Now Buy Groceries Online With SNAP
Georgia is one of 42 states where people can now use EBT cards for groceries through online shopping.
ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta families in need can now buy their groceries online with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Georgia joins 41 other states that now let shoppers use EBT cards for groceries through the SNAP Online Purchasing Pilot program. Delivery fees and other associated charges may not be paid for with SNAP benefits.
“People who receive SNAP benefits should have the opportunity to shop for food the same way more and more Americans shop for food – by ordering and paying for groceries online. As technology advances, it is important for SNAP to advance too, so we can ensure the same shopping options are available for both non-SNAP and SNAP recipients,” said U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue when the online program launched in New York City in 2019. “We look forward to monitoring how these pilots increase food access and customer service to those we serve, specifically those who may experience challenges in visiting brick and mortar stores.”
