Atlanta Judge Gives Larry Scott, Top City Official 2 Years

Former top city official Larry Scott was sentenced to two years for his role in an Atlanta bribery scandal.

ATLANTA, GA — A judge sentenced Larry Scott, Atlanta’s former director for the Office of Contract Compliance to two years in prison, reports WSB-TV. Scott was a part of a large bribery scandal and resigned before pleading guilty last September to charges of wire fraud and filing false tax returns.

He admitted to being paid more on the sly more than $220,000 over a five year period. In return, Scott helped companies secure government contracts, including with the city. At the sentencing, the judge ordered him to also pay $124,000 in restitution.

The federal investigation has been looking into corruption at City Hall during former Mayor Kasim Reed’s administration. He was term limited, leaving office in January of 2018.
