Atlanta LGBT Citizens Police Academy: Register Now
Part of the academy's purpose is to foster "enhanced police and community relations within the LGBT community."

ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Police Department is hosting a Citizens Police Academy geared towards the LGBT community with the purpose of boosting community relations.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, April 17 and 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the LGBT-focused academy will run, giving the community a chance to learn about police operations while helping to educate police about issues specific to the LGBT community.
Police hope to get some "invaluable feedback necessary to foster enhanced police and community relations within the LGBT community."

To apply, you must meet these requirements:
- Be a resident of the Metropolitan Atlanta area
- Minimum age of 21 years
- No felony convictions
- No misdemeanor convictions within one year of application
The application deadline is April 10. To apply, contact LGBT Liaison Senior Police Officer Eric King at ELKing@AtlantaGA.gov or Community Engagement Director Elizabeth Espy at ENEspy@AtlantaGA.gov.

The academy will be held at the Atlanta Police Training Academy at 180 Southside Industrial Pkwy.
