ATLANTA, GA — Under a new order issued Friday by Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, city workers now have a wider window to vote in the November general and January runoff elections.

The executive order increases the amount of hours from two hour to four hours. She also directs her chief of staff to discuss any operational changes with the Atlanta Postmaster that could possibly impact voters who choose to vote by mail.

“Regardless of party affiliation, all Atlanta residents deserve to not only cast their vote, but do so in a safe, open and accessible manner,” said Mayor Bottoms in a statement. “The dysfunction we saw across the state during the Primary was unacceptable. In 2020, we should be making it easier for people to exercise their Constitutional right to vote—because access to the polls is access to our democracy.”
