Atlanta Mayor Reed To Make Major Turner Field Announcement Thursday
Speculation is that Reed will announce the sale of Turner Field to Georgia State University.
ATLANTA, GA — Mayor Kasim Reed is set to make a major announcement on Thursday at Turner Field.
Reed's office said that members of the Atlanta City Council and Fulton County Commission will be on hand for the announcement, set for 10 am at Turner Field Plaza.
The AJC is speculating that the announcement could be that the city and Georgia State University have reached a final agreement on the sale of the ballpark, which is being vacated by the Atlanta Braves at the end of the 2016 season.

Georgia State and its development partners have been negotiating with the city to purchase the 67 acres in and around the ballpark. Plans call for a new Georgia State University football stadium; student house; apartments; and a college baseball stadium.
