Atlanta Peach Drop Not Happening New Year's Eve 2019
After three decades, the annual Atlanta New Year's Eve peach drop won't happen this year, according to the city.

ATLANTA, GA — The Peach Drop, an Atlanta New Year’s Eve tradition, will be on hiatus, reported WSB-TV. This is the first time in 30 years that the city won’t offer the spectacle. The Peach Drop started in 1989.
“We're going to take a break, re-evaluate, re-examine the location and how we plan it out," Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms told WSB-TV.
According to WSB-TV, the annual event started as a day-long celebration with food and music. The giant peach would drop at midnight. It would attract about 100,000 people every year while held at Underground Atlanta. In 2017 the city hosted the event at Woodruff Park after Underground Atlanta was sold to a South Carolina real estate firm, although it was brought back to the original site last year.
