Atlanta Police Officer Shoots Break-In Suspect
The GBI says the man broke into a house he'd been evicted from, then falsely told police officers he had a gun.

ATLANTA, GA — An Atlanta Police officer shot a man who authorities say had broken into a home he'd been evicted from and falsely claimed he had a gun.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting, which happened at about 1:50 p.m. on Thursday on Linkwood Road in southweast Atlanta. That's when officers responded to a house where the resident said he came home to find a window broken.
They learned that Altman Hall, 34, may be inside. According to the GBI, Hall had been evicted from the home and had a protection order out against him.

Officers and a family member tried to get into the house, but were blocked by Hall, who told police he had a gun, according to the GBI. A SWAT team was called in and contacted Hall via cellphone to try to calm down the situation.
The GBI says they spoke to him for about 45 minutes, but that he refused to comply with their requests and made threats against officers and himself. He reportedly told them he was going to come out of the house and shoot police officers.

He got near the house's front doorway during the standoff and an officer fired two shots — one of which hit Hall in the lower abdomen. He closed and locked the front door, requiring police to force their way in. They found Hall alert and conscious and medics gave him first aid, the GBI said.
Hall has been charged with aggravated stalking and burglary, both felonies. Officers did not find any firearms when they searched the home.
Once the GBI finishes its investigation, it will turn over its findings to the Fulton County District Attorney's office.
