Killer Mike and Gov. Kemp met this week to discuss sex trafficking, workforce development and minority contracts.

ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta rapper and activist Killer Mike is facing some criticism from both fans and Democrats after posting a photo of him and Gov. Brian Kemp.
The two posed for the photo on Wednesday in the Georgia governor’s ceremonial office at the state Capitol, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The next day they made an appearance on Shelley Wynter‘s Word On The Street show on WSB radio to elaborate on why they initially met.

The interview revealed that they discussed Kemp’s plans to address Atlanta’s sex trafficking issue and Killer Mike’s push to increase minority participation in state contracts. Kemp also added that he plans to connect Killer Mike’s team with Georgia's technical college system to promote a workforce initiative aimed at training more workers for jobs in the construction industry.
According to BET.com, Killer Mike said about Kemp, “More than anything, I’m a Southerner. I’m a Black man. I’ve been raised in a traditionally Democratic city. But my state is pretty conservative, always has been. So as a Southern man, I connected pretty much instantly with him. Politics and policy don’t matter to me as much as human decency and principles, and he seemed to be a principled human being when I talked to him.”
