Atlanta Schools Make Decision On Thursday Classes
The decision whether to open or close classes came as Gov. Nathan Deal made a similar decision about state government offices.

ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta Public Schools will remain closed for a second day on Thursday, with frozen roadways and bitterly cold conditions in the metro area expected to last at least another 24 hours.
On its website, the school system said the decision was made in conjunction with Gov. Nathan Deal's decision to close state offices for a second day as well.
APS Superintendent Meria Carstarphen announced the decision on Twitter, saying extreme cold temperatures and icy road conditions are expected to persist and that holding school would not be safe for staff, students or school buses in the metro area.
