3 Killed, 1 Hurt In Atlanta Shooting During Drug Deal: Police

Authorities believe the shooting stemmed from a failed drug exchange inside an apartment.

ATLANTA — Three men were fatally shot during a drug deal Saturday evening in Buckhead, Atlanta, according to police. A fourth man sustained injuries.

Officers responded at about 6:45 p.m. to 3005 Peachtree Rd., where they found all four victims with gunshot wounds, authorities said. Police believe the shooting stemmed from a failed drug deal inside an apartment at the address.

Three victims — all in their 20s — were pronounced dead at the scene, while the injured man was taken to the hospital, according to officials. The injured victim was "alert, conscious and breathing," police said.

The shooting occurred in an 11th-floor apartment in the high-rise building, according to Maj. Peter Malecki.

"This wasn’t like a home invasion type of scenario," Malecki told reporters. "We believe that the perpetrators were invited in for that drug exchange. It was some type of drug transaction that was taking place inside the apartment."

Police recovered "a couple of handguns" at the scene, Malecki said Saturday evening. But authorities need to conduct tests to see which weapons were involved, according to WANF.
