Metro Atlanta Weather: Possible Storms Ahead Of Warm, Dry Weekend

ATLANTA, GA — In a continuing trend of rainfall in metro Atlanta, weather forecasters predict a 40-45 percent chance of storms late Tuesday morning to early afternoon.

Brett Albright is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service's Peachtree City office.

Albright told Patch any potential rainfall Tuesday should come in spurts, possibly not affecting the entire metro area.

Temperatures will have a high of 92 degrees while heat index values could stand at 93 degrees in north metro Atlanta and 99 degrees in the southern portion.

Albright predicted the metro will be dry the remainder of the work week and through the weekend. As the weekdays pass, temperatures will taper down a bit before Saturday and Sunday.

Metro Atlanta will be in "full summer swing for the weekend," he said.

As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, the weather service predicts the following:

This Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. West wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Tonight: A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. Northwest wind 5-10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 85. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 66. West wind around 5 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 88. Light northwest wind becoming west 5-10 mph in the morning.

Thursday night: Clear, with a low around 66.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 91.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 69.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 93.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 71.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 94.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 72.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 95.
