Atlanta Wendy's Where Rayshard Books Was Killed Is Torn Down
Construction crews on Tuesday knocked down the Wendy's where Rayshard Brooks was killed by police. Protesters had been camping there.
ATLANTA, GA — The Wendy’s restaurant where Atlanta police shot and killed Rayshard Brooks last month started coming down Tuesday morning.
Construction crews and equipment were seen working on the fire-damaged site at the University Avenue location, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
This move comes a little over a week after the city of Atlanta removed the memorial for Brooks. Protesters have been camping out at the shuttered restaurant since his death. They erected barriers to block traffic, which the city removed, only for protesters to bring back. They were also petitioning for the parking lot to be turned into an official memorial to honor Brooks’ life.

When an 8-year-old girl, Secoriea Turner, was shot over the Fourth of July weekend near the same Wendy's as Brooks, that prompted Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms to take action.
"Enough is enough," Bottoms said at a news conference earlier this month. "If you want people to take us seriously and you don't want us to lose this movement, we can't lose each other."

"At the point that an 8-year-old baby is killed, the discussions have ended," Bottoms said.
