Here are the top three stories today in Atlanta:
- Mental health advocate and Atlanta resident Stacy Bryant is on a mission to change the world one small step at a time. Bryant is walking across the United States to raise awareness for understanding mental health crises. The Atlanta mother of five is a U.S. Army veteran, pageant queen, and cancer survivor. She carries a sign reading "Honk for Healthy Mental Health" as she walks through the Atlanta metro. After Bryant completes her journey across Georgia, she said she will take a short break before tackling South Carolina. (WRDW)
- A professor at Georgia State University is no longer teaching in the classroom because she allegedly called the police over two students who arrived late to class and wouldn't leave. A college student, Bria Blake, posted about the incident on TikTok where she says two of her classmates, known as Taylor and Kamryn, were two minutes late for class. The professor, Carissa Gray, asked them to leave. One of the students allegedly said they "paid to be here" and refused to leave. The professor then left the classroom and returned with two armed GSU police officers. Georgia State University confirmed the incident and said the professor is no longer teaching in-person classes at this time. (CBS 46 News)
- Atlanta police have arrested and charged a man with a woman's murder after an argument over a bowling ball. Lakevia Jackson, 31, was shot and killed at the Metro Fun Center, an entertainment venue, just before 11 p.m. on Mar. 18. Investigators say that 25-year-old Joshua Fleetwood was on a date at the Metro Fun Center when he got into an argument with Jackson's family, who was bowling on an adjacent lane. Once everyone had left the building, police say someone from each side of the argument got guns from their cars and began shooting. Jackson was shot during the exchange of gunfire and died from her injuries. (WSB Atlanta)
