Best For Coffee: Here’s Where Atlanta Ranks
We love our coffee here in Atlanta, so much so that we are among the best cities for coffee in the nation.
ATLANTA, GA — It doesn’t get much better than a warm cup of joe before diving into a work day. A new list from WalletHub recently ranked the best cities in the United States for coffee lovers.
The personal finance site ranked the 100 largest cities across 14 key indicators of coffee fanatic friendliness to determine the best in the country. The data ranged from coffee shops per capita to the average price to even the amount of times people in the city googled the word coffee.
Each of these 14 indicators were then listed with its corresponding weight, and graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the maximum coffee drinker experience. The weighted scores were subsequently combined to give each city an individual score.

The No.1? Seattle, the home of Starbucks headquarters and an assortment of other tasty coffee spots, was the top overall city.
The worst city for coffee lovers was Toledo, Ohio. The overall last place finisher didn’t win every dubious award, though. Detroit had the lowest percentage of households that own coffee makers, and Honolulu finished with the highest average price for a pack of coffee.
Coffee’s popularity is at an all-time high. Sixty-three percent of Americans age 18 or older said they drank coffee the previous day, according to a recent poll from Reuters. “Americans continue to mostly enjoy their coffee in the home, with at-home consumption accounting for 78 percent of the total,” said researchers in the poll.
