TYBEE ISLAND, GA — Georgia residents and visitors to its shores know their seafood, what's fresh, and where to find the best catch of the day. The writers at The Daily Meal have tackled the topic, naming America's 35 Best Seafood Shacks, and one Georgia venue made the list.

In order for a restaurant to be a great seafood shack, the Daily Meal folks say it has to be directly on the water or no more than a stone’s throw away from it; fresh-caught local seafood must be cooked and served without any frills, and for a reasonable price; casual appearances work, especially if the eatery has a deck on the water; and customers should feel comfortable to hang out.

Here is the Georgia venue to visit:

The Crab Shack (Tybee Island)

Here's what the editors said about The Crab Shack: "The Crab Shack’s tagline is “where the elite eat in their bare feet,” and it’s an absolute legend in the Tybee Island, Georgia, community, about a half-hour drive from Savannah. As the name implies, it’s all about the crab here: Deviled crab, creamy crab stew, local blue crab, snow crab, Dungeness crab, king crab and stone crab are all offered. Land lovers will find grub here too, courtesy of the renowned barbecue ribs and pork, and don’t leave without feeding the baby alligators in the lagoon."
