Here are the top 5 stories in Atlanta today:
- President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris visited Atlanta Tuesday to discuss voting rights bills Biden called a "turning point." Stops included the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, nearby Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, and Atlanta University Center near Downtown Atlanta, where they gave joint addresses on the urgent need for passing legislation protecting voting rights from the nexus points of the campuses of Clark Atlanta University and Morehouse College. In an excerpt of his speech released by the White House ahead of Tuesday's address, Biden said, "The next few days, when these bills come to a vote, will mark a turning point in this nation. Will we choose democracy over autocracy, light over shadow, justice over injustice? I know where I stand. I will not yield. I will not flinch. I will defend your right to vote and our democracy against all enemies foreign and domestic. And so the question is where will the institution of (the) United States Senate stand?" - Photos from Monday night capture the thrill of the Georgia Bulldogs becoming national champions after a 41-year drought, defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide 33-18 in the College Football National Championship. The last time the Bulldogs (14-1) won a national title, a freshman running back named Herschel Walker led them to the championship game back in 1980. Check out game photos from Georgia's victory at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis against rival and No. 1 Alabama (13-2). (Atlanta Patch)
