A power outage reported early Thursday morning triggered a temporary loss of pressure in parts of the drinking water system served by the Hemphill Water Treatment Plant. While normal operations were restored within 40 minutes, Atlanta chose to issue the advisory out of an abundance of caution.
Samples taken throughout the affected area confirmed no system-wide contamination of the public drinking water system occurred as a result of the power interruption at Hemphill pump station, the department added.
