Bomb Threat At GA State Capitol Prompts Delayed Opening

The Georgia State Capitol has since received an all-clear and has reopened.

ATLANTA — A bomb threat received Wednesday at the Georgia State Capitol caused a delayed opening, Secretary of State Chief Operating Officer Gabriel Sterling said on X, formerly Twitter.

Sterling said around 9 a.m. the all-clear was given, and the Capitol was reopened. He did not detail the nature of the threat.

The vehicle for the threat was a hoax email, which was sent to a staff member, Atlanta News First reported, citing the Georgia State Patrol. It is unknown what was said in the email.
