Bomb Threat At Middle School In ATL Prompts Evacuation

ATLANTA, GA — Sylvan Middle School students were evacuated Thursday afternoon after a bomb threat, Atlanta Public Schools officials said.

The students were relocated to Perkerson Park near Deckner Avenue, school officials said. Buses were set to take students home, with parents being given the option to pick up their children from Perkerson, officials said.

"School administrators will be on-site to release students only to those individuals authorized for pick up. Those individuals must present a valid photo ID," school officials said in a statement.

The bomb threat was texted to the Sylvan Road middle school, triggering an afternoon interior lockdown before the evacuation, school officials said. Parents were notified, officials said.

APS Police and Atlanta Police investigated the threat, school officials said. It is unknown if charges have been filed in the case.
