Bond Denied For Man Accused of Throwing Boiling Water Onto Gay Couple
Martin Blackwell could spend up to 80 years in prison if convicted.

ATLANTA, GA -- Bond was denied on Thursday for the man accused of throwing scalding water onto a sleeping gay couple at their College Park apartment.
Martin Blackwell, 48, has been charged with eight counts of aggravated battery and two counts of aggravated assault.
On Feb. 12, 2016, Blackwell allegedly took boiling hot water into the room of his girlfriend’s son. Then the defendant allegedly threw the scalding hot water upon the two victims. The men suffered second and third degree burns.

One of the men was Anthony Gooden, the son of Blackwell's girlfriend who shared the apartment with his mother. Marquez Tolbert, 21, the other victim, spent 10 days in the hospital and had to undergo skin grafts after suffering second- and third-degree burns on his back and neck.
Blackwell told police he was disgusted with the men’s relationship.

The trial is set for August 22, 2016 at the Fulton County Courthouse. If convicted, Blackwell could receive a sentence of up to 80 years in prison.
