Braves Win NL East Championship Title For 5th Consecutive Year

The team now moves on to the National League Division Series.

ATLANTA, GA — For the fifth straight year, the Atlanta Braves have secured the title of National League East champions after defeating the Miami Marlins 2-1 Tuesday night.

ESPN reported the team now has a first-round bye as the No. 2 seed in the National League after the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Braves will play the winner of the series between the Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Cardinals.

CBS Sports reported the Braves could play the winner of the New York Mets versus San Diego Padres in the NLDS.

According to ESPN, the Braves were 10 1/2 games behind the Mets at the top of June.

The Wild Card round starts Friday.

The Braves will play again Oct. 11.
