Brewery 5K Run Aims To Support Local Atlanta Breweries

'Tour Of The Breweries' is a unique 5K that encourages people to support Atlanta breweries during the slower months.

ATLANTA, GA — “Tour of the Breweries” is a new type of race, one that its founders say they hope will keep breweries busy during the slow months while giving runners a purpose. From Jan. 15 through March 15, participants will race in four virtual 5k’s at four different breweries in the Atlanta area.

The idea was started by founders Kelly Scott and Andrew Griffin, who said they combined their love of beer and running. The runners won’t physically be running against other runners, but instead will track their race on a running app. This can be a solo effort, but people are encouraged to run in a group.

“We picked winter for this race because it is a slower season for the breweries,” the two said in a news release. “We hope this helps support them through this season. It is also fun to get people out of their routine by giving them a reason to try out a new brewery. It brings the communities together and we hope that it will grow to an Atlanta tradition bring all of the area together.”
