Bulldogs Edge Yellow Jackets In Giving For Children's Healthcare

The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl "Touchdowns For Chldren's" campaign raised more than $280,000 this college football season.

ATLANTA, GA — Bulldogs fans narrowly edged Yellow Jackets in giving during the first-ever "Touchdowns For Children's" fundraiser in conjunction with the Peach Bowl.

In all, the campaign raised $280,358 for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. College football fans donated $140,179, which was matched by the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. Throughout the college-football season, CHA and the Peach Bowl encouraged fans to donate to support their teams, based on how many touchdowns their favorite squad scored during the 12-game season.

The funds will go to CHA, a nonprofit that provides medical support and services for kids.

"Atlanta certainly lived up to its reputation as the ‘College Football Capital’ with the city’s passionate college football community joining forces to raise donations for such an honorable cause," said Gary Stokan, CEO and president of Peach Bowl, Inc. "To celebrate our 50th anniversary, we’re thrilled to be able to match the original amount raised and further give back to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in its mission to positively support kids."

As the winners, with $54,739 raised, UGA fans will be honored at the Peach Bowl on New Year's Day. University of Central Florida will face off against Auburn in the contest, which kicks off at 12:30 p.m.
