The TangerKids Grants Program gives teachers and education leaders across the country the opportunity to identify classroom and school needs and request funding for programs that support student success. Grants may be used for initiatives that enhance learning environments, improve accessibility, address student needs and provide additional resources for schools and classrooms. Faculty members at public and private schools serving pre-K through grade 12 students are eligible to apply.
For 30 years, Tanger has invested in education by providing more than $3.9 million in grants to schools and educational programs across the communities it serves through 38 outlet centers and four open-air lifestyle centers. In 2025, TangerKids Grants awarded an estimated $200,000 to initiatives throughout the U.S. and Canada, with a focus on supporting inclusive classroom environments, underserved schools and programs that address evolving student needs.

Taking place on Wednesday, August 19 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., at City of Hope’s cancer treatment center in Newnan, Georgia, event participants can receive their annual mammogram and take-home educational materials. 
All patient appointments are subject to meeting clinical requirements. It is required that participants being screened have a doctor to receive the screening results. Most insurance plans are accepted and for uninsured patients, discounted pricing for the mammogram is available at $99.

Adventure Cubs presented by Carter’s Charitable Foundation
is for toddlers and their favorite grownups for a morning of exploration,
learning and fun!
Embark on a new journey each month with a Zoo Educator as
families get to learn and play together.
Engaging activities will get you and your little one moving
and creating. Each month, young explorers will learn about a new animal through
a game, craft, story, and singalong. At the end of the program, participants
will visit the animal of the month’s habitat to make observations and draw
connections to the lesson. You and your family will then receive a themed
scavenger hunt to do in the Zoo on your own. This is a great opportunity to
make friends and spend time with your little explorers as they discover new
skills and learn about wildlife.
All topics and activities are designed for children ages
2-5, with opportunities for exploration for ages 0-2. During the winter months,
this program will be held indoors.

THEMES:
Each month, a new adventure awaits with new animals to
observe. Adventure Cubs will explore a new region of the world to investigate
the animals and environments there! The purpose of each program is to expose
young children to the diversity of animals around the world and to draw
connections to the ways we are similar and different. For each adventure they
go on, Adventure Cubs will engage in an activity, read a story, and create a
take-away memory.

Summer Shade Festival Returns to Grant Park for its 24th Year

Keeper for a Day: Elephants 

Join the team at the Zambezi Elephant Center and immerse yourself in what it takes to care for the largest land animals on the planet!
Spend the morning working alongside the Elephant Care Team to prepare the habitat for the day and ensure the elephants’ needs are met.
This unique experience is sure to educate and inspire you about these special individuals, help you learn more about the rigorous requirements of professional elephant care, and gain an understanding of the ways Zoo Atlanta is working to protect wild populations. Participants can expect to meet members of the Animal Care Team, meet an animal, learn about our positive reinforcement training and enrichment programs, and walk away with knowledge of how to save species. All participation in Keeper for a Day programs is voluntary for the animals.
Before registering, please understand that during this program: 
<ul>
 <li>Participants will perform similar tasks as members of the Elephant Care Team, which may include raking, sweeping, hosing, scrubbing, and shoveling, and should expect to do some hard work and be comfortable getting dirty. </li>
 <li>Participants will be expected to participate in all weather conditions, lift up to 30 pounds, and be on their feet for up to four hours. </li>
 <li>Participants must have the physical ability to bend, lift, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time. </li>
 <li>Participants may be exposed to potential allergens such as insects, hay, animal waste, and other potential allergens. Please reach out in advance if you have any questions or concerns. </li>

One of Grant Park’s favorite summer traditions is back. <a href="https://runsignup.com/Race/GA/Atlanta/RunforthePark5K" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The 24th annual Adams Realtors Run for the Park 5K</a> returns Saturday, August 22, 2026, kicking off <a href="https://summershadefestival.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Summer Shade Festival</a> weekend with a morning run through the historic neighborhood in support of the Grant Park Conservancy. Open to runners, walkers, strollers, and families, the 5K begins at 8 a.m., followed by a free Kids Tot Trot for ages 5 and under at 8:45 a.m. Race day begins at 7 a.m. with registration and check-in at Zoo Atlanta's main entrance (800 Cherokee Ave. SE). Participants can start the morning with a guided stretch led by Rene of Challenge Aerial at 7:30 a.m., followed by the National Anthem at 7:55 a.m. The certified 5K also serves as a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race, with awards presented at 9 a.m.After crossing the finish line, participants will receive a popsicle courtesy of King of Pops and a race T-shirt designed by noted Grant Park artist Willem Kaiser. Participants 21 and older can show their race bib along with a valid ID to enjoy a complimentary draft beer at Dakota Blue (454 Cherokee Ave. SE, along the racecourse), courtesy of Adams Realtors. The celebration continues at the Grant Park Conservancy Summer Shade Festival beginning at 10 a.m. Festival-goers can browse more than 140 artists and makers from across the Southeast, shop vintage vendors, grab local food and drinks, catch live music, and take in the return of Deep South Wrestling. Families can also enjoy kids' activities and a full day in one of Atlanta’s favorite parks.
