Summer Safari Camp at Zoo Atlanta
Join us for an exploration of all things WILD! 
Safari Camp at Zoo Atlanta offers a memorable adventure for campers ages 5-14 while fostering a deeper connection to animals and inspiring conservation action.
From Zoo explorations and group games to inquiry-based scientific investigations and projects, young explorers will be immersed in hands-on, minds-on learning while having fun. Experience a summer of excitement and discovery at Zoo Atlanta’s Summer Safari Camp! Select an individual week that fits in your summer plans, or spend the entire summer with us. 
Summer Camp dates: Weekly, May 26 - July 31, 2026
Time: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. 
Extended care available for an additional cost per week from 8 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. 
THEMES:
Each week campers embark on a different Zoo expedition, exploring wildlife and wild places. From Marvelous Mammals to Brilliant Biomes, participants will be engaged in learning about how to make a positive difference for animals! 
What You Need To Know:
Safari Camp is a great opportunity to engage young explorers in learning about the wild world around them and beginning their journey of conservation stewardship. Through Zoo explorations, up-close animal encounters, STEAM-based projects, hands-on science activities, environmental games and more, campers learn about attainable strategies and goals to combat environmental issues and are charged with finding simple ways that they can make a difference.
While Zoo Atlanta is a great place to discover nature and wildlife, it is also important that campers have a chance to experience wildlife in a more natural setting. Campers and their Educators may travel out to Grant Park (which surrounds the Zoo) to participate in a variety of activities such as nature walks, environmental research, and group team-building games.

Age Ranges:
JUNIOR RANGERS (Ages 5-7): 
Our youngest campers will learn about wildlife and wild places in a way that is experiential and collaborative. Throughout each week, Junior Ranger campers will:
<ul><li>Explore the Zoo</li><li>Participate in hands-on activities to support the weekly themes</li><li>Connect with their fellow campers and Camp Educator</li><li>Meet some of our amazing Ambassador Animals</li><li>Engage in a project that they can share with the rest of Camp at the end of each session!</li></ul>





TREK (Ages 8-11): 
Young explorers will expand their learning about wildlife and conservation to new levels! Trek campers will engage with Zoo Atlanta by:
<ul><li>Exploring the Zoo grounds, including behind-the-scenes areas</li><li>Participating in interactive activities that connect them to conservation and ecological principles</li><li>Collaborating with their Camp Educator and fellow campers to dive more deeply into the vital work Zoo Atlanta does to protect wildlife and wild places</li></ul>



QUEST (Ages 12-14): 
At the apex of Zoo Atlanta’s Camp programming, Quest campers will further inspire their passion for wildlife conservation by joining us for an exciting week of exploring what providing exceptional animal care looks like in an AZA-accredited facility. Throughout the summer, Quest campers will:<ul><li>Engage with a variety of Zoo team members to learn how we provide exceptional care to over 200 species of animals, including invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals from a wide range of ecosystems. </li><li>Explore animal care spaces and learn how our care teams adjust for changes in animal abilities and behaviors over time. </li><li>Gain insights into meeting the mental and physical needs of individual animals and discover how to design and maintain habitats. </li><li>Meet with a unique Zoo team each week and engage in experiences and activities tailored to that care team. </li><li>Deepen their knowledge of Zoo Atlanta’s commitment to protect wildlife and their habitats in the wild through conservation projects and partnerships.</li></ul>

Imagine running a show when all of your stars are birds!
Become a Trainer for a Day at the World of Wild Theater presented by Georgia Natural Gas, and see firsthand how training is used to care for and connect guests to the birds while participating in the Fantastic Flights presentation!
Work alongside the Ambassador Animals Team to experience how these feathered friends showcase their unique adaptations in these presentations and learn about the positive reinforcement training that ensures that all of the birds are participating voluntarily. This behind-the-scenes look at Fantastic Flights and its amazing participants will give you a greater appreciation for the term “bird brain” and the important relationships between the birds and their care team. Participants can expect to meet members of the Animal Care Team, meet an animal, learn about our positive reinforcement training and enrichment programs, and walk away with knowledge of how to save species. All participation in Keeper for a Day programs is voluntary for the animals.
Before registering, please understand that during this program: 
<ul>
 <li>Participants will perform similar tasks as members of the Ambassador Animals Team, which may include raking, sweeping, hosing, scrubbing, and shoveling, and should expect to do some hard work and be comfortable getting dirty. </li>
 <li>Participants will be expected to participate in all weather conditions, lift up to 30 pounds, and be on their feet for up to four hours. </li>
 <li>Participants must have the physical ability to bend, lift, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time. </li>
 <li>Participants may be exposed to potential allergens such as insects, hay, animal waste, and other potential allergens. Please reach out in advance if you have any questions or concerns.</li>

The Atlanta Fringe Festival returns for its 14th annual celebration this summer, delivering an expansive lineup of bold, original performances across the city. Building on last year’s success, the 2026 festival will again host a two-week run, featuring more than 245 live acts from May 27-June 7
at seven venues throughout Atlanta. This year’s lineup includes 49 distinct shows from a diverse roster of artists: 27 local performers, 18 touring artists representing 13 states, and an international act from Scotland. Altogether, the festival showcases more than 400 individual performances, offering audiences an immersive, citywide arts experience.
“The Atlanta Fringe Festival is a celebration of fearless creativity and the artists who bring it to life,” said Executive Director Diana Brown. “From local talent to international voices, this year’s festival invites audiences to discover work that is unexpected, unforgettable and uniquely Atlanta.”
Known for its genre-defying programming, the festival spans the full spectrum of live performance - from improv and burlesque to stand-up comedy, spoken word, puppetry and magic. As part of the global Fringe movement, the Atlanta Fringe Festival operates as an open-access platform, empowering artists to present original, unconventional work while retaining 100% of their ticket revenue.
In keeping with Fringe tradition, participating artists were selected through an unjuried lottery from approximately 150 submissions worldwide, ensuring a dynamic mix of voices, disciplines and experience levels.
Festival Highlights Include:
<ul>
 <li>Kids Fringe (Free Family Programming): Presented in partnership with East Atlanta Kids Club, this interactive series returns May 30-31 and June 6-7 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., featuring puppet shows, crafts, games, a “Baby Rave” and more for children ages 0-12. </li>
 <li>Atlanta Street Fringe (Free Outdoor Festival): In partnership with the Little 5 Points Cultural District, this outdoor celebration takes place May 29-31 and June 5-7 throughout Little 5 Points Village. </li>
 <li>Five/5ths of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: Back by popular demand after two consecutive sell-outs, this variety benefit returns Monday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. Five performance groups each reinterpret one segment of the classic film, resulting in a wildly inventive, one-night-only mashup featuring puppetry, burlesque, clowning and more.</li>
</ul>
In addition to live performances, the festival will once again present Fringe Audio, a first-of-its-kind podcast network within the Fringe circuit. Launching May 20 at AtlantaFringe.org, the platform will stream original storytelling and radio theater—many of them world premieres—from local and national artists. A $200 cash prize will be awarded to the Critics’ Choice winner for excellence in podcast production.
Multi-show passes will go on sale April 20, with single tickets going on sale April 27. Tickets will be available at <a href="https://AtlantaFringe.org" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">atlantafringe.org</a>.

Keeper for a Day: Elephants
Join the team at the Zambezi Elephant Center and immerse yourself in what it takes to care for the largest land animals on the planet!
Spend the morning working alongside the Elephant Care Team to prepare the habitat for the day and ensure the elephants’ needs are met.
This unique experience is sure to educate and inspire you about these special individuals, help you learn more about the rigorous requirements of professional elephant care, and gain an understanding of the ways Zoo Atlanta is working to protect wild populations. Participants can expect to meet members of the Animal Care Team, meet an animal, learn about our positive reinforcement training and enrichment programs, and walk away with knowledge of how to save species.
