CCPE Wins Five National Awards
The honors for leadership, service, and excellence in marketing were presented at the 80th Annual ACHE Conference

The Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE) recognized KSU's College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) with national awards for leadership, service, and marketing at its 80th annual national conference held October 8-10 in Newport, Rhode Island. With nearly 200 people in attendance, this year’s conference attracted higher education professionals from across the United States and around the globe.
Four CCPE staff members (present and former) received awards:
- Davia Rose Lassiter, director of marketing, received the Leadership Award. According to ACHE, this is the highest award presented and recognizes an individual who has made extraordinary contributions in leadership, theory and practice in continuing higher education.
- Barbara Calhoun, former dean, received the Emeritus Award. Recipients of this award are recognized upon retirement. Calhoun served 23 years as dean of CCPE before she retired in March of this year.
- Michelle Girage, former assistant dean, received the Meritorious Service award. Award recipients are recognized for leadership and service to continuing higher education at their institutions and to ACHE.
- Rebecca Mattox, program manager, received the Rising Star Award. This award is for rising leaders and program developers at ACHE member institutions or organizations.
CCPE also received the Crystal Marketing Award for Open House, a biannual event for the public to explore the professional, executive and community programs available. Nearly 600 people from surrounding counties come to the Open House to speak with CCPE staff, instructors and graduates. The event also provides attendees the opportunity to receive employment resources from the Georgia Department of Labor and KSU’s Department of Career Planning and Development.
