Evacuation Ends After Gas Leak At Georgia Tech Found
Atlanta Fire crews ordered an evacuation Friday morning after a report of a possible gas leak. A low level concentration was detected.
ATLANTA, GA — Students have been allowed back inside a building after a small gas leak was found at Georgia Tech, reports CBS46. According to a spokesperson, a contractor had set a generator near an intake, which was the smell people reported.
Georgia Tech Police warned the campus of a possible gas leak Friday morning, leading to evacuations and the gas being turned off. In a Twitter post the message stated that the leak may have started at the Aerospace Engineering Combustion Lab, 625 Strong Street. There have been no injury reports. A low level concentration of gas was detected, said Atlanta Fire Rescue, who was on the scene.
This is happening just a day after a Hopkins Residence Hall resident reported smelling gas on Thursday close to noon, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The four-story building was evacuated, but no gas leak was found, spokesman Joshua Stewart told the AJC.

The earlier reported gas smell was discovered to have been an odor from a nearby power generator used by contractors who were using it on the roof. Cause for Friday's leak is still being investigated, reports the AJC.
