Condemned Cop Killer Set For Execution This Week
Gregory Lawler killed an Atlanta police officer and seriously wounded his partner in 1997.

Greg Lawler, who killed an Atlanta police officer and seriously wounded his partner in 1997, is set to die by lethal injection on Wednesday.
Lawler killed Officer John Sowa and wounded his partner, Patricia Cocciolone, on Oct. 12, 1997, after the two officers brought Lawler's intoxicated girlfriend home. Lawler shot the officers with an AR-15 and body armor-penetrating bullets.
On Monday, Lawler requested a last meal of steak, according to the AJC, with a baked potato, asparagus, dinner rolls, French onion soup, strawberries, pistachio ice cream and apple juice.

Lawler would be the seventh inmate Georgia would have executed this year, more than any other since the mid 1970s, when capital punishment was reinstated in Georgia.
