DC Mayor Honors FOWPAL for Promoting Love, Peace and Conscience
The Bell of World Peace and Love rings in the District of Columbia, praying for the world
Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze, president of the Federation of World Peace and Love (FOWPAL) and leader of Tai Ji Men Qigong Academy, led the Love of the World Cultural Goodwill Group, composed of members of FOWPAL, Tai Ji Men Qigong Academy, and other organizations, to organize the "2023 World Leader Summit of Love and Peace” and bell ringing ceremonies at the National Press Club in Washington, on March 28. This event was to celebrate the fourth International Day of Conscience and pray for people affected by the recent devastating earthquakes and other disasters in different parts of the world.
Mayor Muriel Bowser of the District of Columbia extended her gratitude to FOWPAL for hosting such an event, stating, “I am delighted that you are once again using the Bell in our nation's capital to promote a culture of peace.” “Residents of Washington, DC and beyond have benefited tremendously from your dedication to creating a community where love, peace, and conscience prevail. On behalf of the nearly 700,000 residents of Washington, DC, you have my sincere thanks and best wishes for a successful and productive event.”
Dr. Hong has led the Love of the World Cultural Goodwill Group to visit over 300 cities in 101 nations, and Washington, D.C. is a very significant place to the Group. In March 2000, Dr. Hong led the Cultural Goodwill Group to visit the capital for the first time. Tai Ji Men members conducted cultural exchanges in front of the Capitol Hill, promoting love and peace. The then Mayor of the District of Columbia Anthony A. Williams declared March 22, 2000 as the Tai Ji Men Qigong Academy Day in Washington, D.C., and Tai Ji Men was recognized as International Ambassadors of Peace and Goodwill.
April 5, 2023 will mark the 4th International Day of Conscience. Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze was instrumental in the United Nations’ adoption of the International Day of Conscience. Beginning on April 5, 2018, FOWPAL worked with the Permanent Missions of various nations to the United Nations, making the UN’s designation of April 5 as the International Day of Conscience possible.
With the frequent occurrence of natural and man-made disasters around the globe, in addition to the continuous efforts to advocate the International Day of Conscience,
the Declaration of World Prayer Day (http://www.fowpal.org/Endorse/1016_endorse/) and the Declaration of World Day of the Power of Hope (http://www.fowpal.org/Endorse/powerhope_endorse/) have been promoted around the world to encourage everyone to meditate and self-reflect every day and pray for the world to inject good energy into the planet.
Tai Ji Men Qigong Academy: Tai Ji Men is an ancient menpai (similar to school) of qigong, martial arts, and self-improvement. It has carried forward the wisdom of Daoist philosophy, one of the highest philosophies of humankind. It is an international nonprofit cultural organization. Its contemporary zhang-men-ren (grandmaster), Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze established the Tai Ji Men Qigong Academy in 1966, and since then it has grown to 15 academies worldwide.
Dr. Hong teaches his dizi (similar to disciples) methods to achieve physical, mental, and spiritual balance, and tens of thousands of families have benefited from his teaching. At Tai Ji Men, martial arts and wisdom have been passed down from the shifu (master) to his dizi. Through this time-honored tradition, the shifu and dizi promote the Tai Ji Men culture and martial arts around the world while embodying what is true, good, and beautiful as well as spreading the ideas of conscience, love, and peace. Over the past half-century, the shifu and dizi have self-funded trips to over 300 cities in 101 nations to conduct more than 3,000 cultural performances and exchanges and have been recognized as International Ambassadors of Peace and Goodwill.
