'Designing Women' Coming Back To TV
A remake of the show about Atlanta interior designers has been in production for a few months, according to reports. What do you think?

ATLANTA, GA — Everyone's favorite Atlanta interior designers are working their way back to your television screen. "Designing Women," the sassy sitcom that tackled political and social issues in the late '80s and early '90s, is being rebooted, with series creator Linda Bloodworth-Thomason behind the revival. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the revamped series has been in the works for months at Sony Pictures Television Studio.
The show does not yet have a network on board, THR reports. The award-winning series, which followed a group of steel magnolias running an Atlanta interior design company, aired on CBS from September 1986 to May 1993. It starred Dixie Carter, Delta Burke, Annie Potts, Jean Smart and Meshach Taylor.
Since the show went off the air, both Carter and Taylor have died. But Potts, who currently appears on NBC's "Young Sheldon," said she'd love to revisit the Sugarbakers.

"I would love that," Potts told EW. "I don’t know when I’d find the time for it, but I think that they could use a show like 'Designing Women' — feisty smart women that didn’t take any B.S. from anybody."

Potts thinks the show, which addressed topics including women's rights, AIDS/HIV and racism during its original run, would be a welcome addition to the current social and political landscape.
"Every Monday night was a 'Me Too' moment for us, and we were talking about it. We were very political ...," she said to EW. "Nobody is doing what we did then. So yeah, if (Bloodworth-Thomason) wanted to write six episodes and do it in my hiatus, I would be there in a minute."
