East Point Woman Kidnapped Tuesday; Suspect Shot by Police

Four people have been arrested and police are searching for a fifth suspect. The victim was rescued after suffering minor injuries.

Atlanta, GA – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case of an officer-involved shooting early Tuesday morning in East Point that involved a kidnapping.

Police say Deborah Patrick was kidnapped outside an East Point liquor store, pistol whipped and then driven around by her attackers. Patrick’s sons, Dominic Patrick and Adrian Evans, were receiving messages via their cellphones demanding a ransom of $100,000.

Atlanta police officers later spotted the suspects' vehicle and began pursuing it, a chase which ended in a crash at Metropolitan Parkway and Christman Street.

Police say Terenzio McCurty, 23, got out of the wrecked vehicle armed with a handgun. McCurty was shot in the leg by an Atlanta police officer. He and the other occupants continued to flee on foot, but McCurty and John Penceil, 50, were arrested after a brief chase.

McCurty was taken transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he is in stable condition.

Police arrested a third suspect, Joshua Fowler, 25, hiding in a dumpster nearby, while a fourth suspect, Demetrius Sims, 43, was located several hours later.

Police are looking for a fifth suspect, reports Channel 2 Action News.

Patrick was rescued and taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.
