Here are the top three stories in Atlanta today:

  1. An Easter giveaway in East Atlanta provided food, toys, and furniture to families in need. Catholic leaders and community volunteers collected donations throughout the year for the big event. The group reportedly plans to host more giveaways throughout the rest of the year in different Atlanta neighborhoods. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  2. Atlanta's iconic Plaza Theatre is undergoing $4 million worth of renovations. The theatre is the last of more than a hundred similar theatres that once called Atlanta their home. Plaza Theatre was built in 1939 and is the last single-screen cinema in the city. (WSB Atlanta)
  3. The Atlanta Police Department responded to a barricaded gunman on Friday morning in the 600 block of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard. The gunman was able to escape arrest following a standoff. One adult male was taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound. The department is still conducting an investigation into the incident. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
