Newsweek partnered with data firm Statista to release the fifth year of this list, which ranked 2,300 hospitals in 80 countries.
A global board of medical experts compiled the list based on four data sources: an online survey from medical experts, results from patient surveys, hospital quality metrics and a PROM (patient-reported outcome measures) implementation survey.
Here's the list of Georgia hospitals that were featured among the best in the U.S. and where they ranked:
- Emory University Hospital - Atlanta, No. 34
- Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital - Atlanta, No. 97
- Emory Johns Creek Hospital - Johns Creek, No. 224
- Northside Hospital Forsyth - Cumming, No. 258
- Emory University Hospital Midtown - Atlanta, No. 265
- Fairview Park Hospital - Dublin, No. 298
- Northside Hospital - Atlanta, No. 372

"The world's best hospitals consistently attract the best people and provide the best outcomes for patients, as well as the most important new therapies and research. Of all the hospitals in the world, relatively few can do all those things year in and year out. The best belong to a very exclusive club," read a Newsweek press release.
Nancy Cooper, global editor-in-chief for Newsweek, said the goal of the study was to provide a data-based comparison of hospital reputations and performances across counties.
"We hope this will be useful to patients and families seeking the best care for themselves and loved ones, as well as to hospitals as they benchmark themselves against their peers," Cooper said in the release.
