UNION CITY, GA — Federal authorities on Wednesday raided the Fulton County elections hub in search of ballots related to the 2020 presidential election, Reuters reported.

Fulton prosecutors have long accused President Donald Trump of interfering with the 2020 election results in Georgia, while the president had leveled allegations of fraud against Fulton elections officials.

The search sought records related to the 2020 election, county spokesperson Jessica Corbitt-Dominguez said.

It appeared to be the most public step by law enforcement to pursue Trump’s claims of a stolen election, grievances rejected time and again by courts, state officials and audits that have found no evidence of fraud that would have altered the outcome.

Trump has made Georgia, one of the battleground states he lost in 2020, a central target for his complaints about the election and memorably pleaded with its then-secretary of state to “find” him enough votes to overturn the contest.

Last week, in reference to the 2020 election, he asserted that “people will soon be prosecuted for what they did.” It was not clear what in particular he was referring to.

After being accused of election subversion, Trump was booked and released on a pre-arranged $200,000 bond in August 2023 at the Fulton County Jail. Eighteen other allies were indicted in the case.

Trump faced a slew of charges that included violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, but the case was dismissed more than two years later in November 2025 after Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia executive director Pete Skandalakis said he would not pursue the case.

The case's original overseer, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, was removed after a judge ruled on her suspected improper relationship with the case's top prosecutor.
