Firefighter Injured While Battling House Blaze: Report

The abandoned home was fully engulfed in flames early Friday when crew arrived, say fire officials.

ATLANTA, GA — An Atlanta firefighter fell through a second-story window early Friday as his crew put out a blaze in an abandoned house, according to a media report.

The firefighter fell about 8 feet and suffered a knee injury, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The injury was minor, fire officials said.

The fire broke out just before 4 a.m. in a vacant home at the corner of Mayson Turner Road and Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard, in northwest Atlanta, according to AJC.com.

When firefighters arrived, flames were engulfing both floors in the rear of the house, and black smoke was pouring out of the front, a fire captain told the AJC. The firefighters put out the blaze by 6:30 a.m.
