Flames Erupt After Train Hits Tractor-Trailer In Atlanta: WATCH

Responding firefighters found flames burning a truck's cab and trailer after a train hit the truck in Atlanta.

ATLANTA, GA — A train hit a tractor-trailer, causing it to burst into flames Friday in Atlanta, fire officials said.

The fiery crash happened around 3:45 a.m. in the area of Lee and Sparks streets, Atlanta Fire Rescue said.

When crews arrived, fire officials said they found flames burning the truck's cab and trailer. A fire also consumed railroad debris, fire officials said.

AFD released video footage of the aftermath, which appeared to show significant damage to the tractor-trailer.

No one was found during a search of the tractor-trailer and surrounding area, fire officials said. According to AFD, the truck driver possibly left the scene before first responders arrived.

No hazardous materials were present, and the crash led to temporarily suspended rail operations, fire officials said.

The crash is under investigation.
