Flash Flooding, Lightning To Threaten GA In Southern Storms
A sweep of southern storms will bring localized flash flooding and other hazards to Georgia, forecasters have predicted.
Most of Georgia is at a slight risk for flash flooding as heavy rainfall is set to sweep the South, including in Georgia, where lightning could also strike.
The storms could sit over the same area in the region, increasing the chances for flooding during daily rains this week, according to an AccuWeather forecast.
Georgia may experience strong to severe storms Monday and Tuesday, the National Weather Service reported. Gusty to damaging winds, frequent lightning and heavy rainfall are anticipated in the wave.

There was at least a 15 percent medium probability of flash flooding across Georgia, including in metro Atlanta, due to multiple expected storms Monday afternoon and evening.
Threats for flash flooding may persist through Wednesday, according to the NWS.

Georgia is in the path of the most widespread storms this week in the South, according to an AccuWeather map.
Up to 3 inches of rain could pour into the Southeast from Texas and southern Oklahoma on Tuesday; however, AccuWeather noted this probability could double in areas that receive repeated storms.
Later this week, the NWS reported Georgia could feel more summer-like weather.
