Football-Bowling Combo At New Atlanta Bar

At Pin & Proper, in Grant Park, Pinfall — a combination of football and bowling — is the main attraction.

ATLANTA, GA — If slinging a football at bowling pins while you have a bite and down a cold one sounds like a good evening on the town, a new spot opened in Atlanta just might be for you.

Pin & Proper, at 1039 Grant St., opened for business this week, offering patrons a chance to enjoy a new barroom pastime called pinfall.

Located in an 8,600-square-foot space located just off of the Beltline in Grant Park's Beacon Atlanta Development, Pin & Proper has 10 pinfall lanes, two of which are considered VIP lanes and come with private seating and optional food and beverage packages.

The rules of the game are simple. Two teams set up bowling pins in the classic bowling-alley triangle, then take turns trying to knock down each other's pins by throwing a football. The first team to knock down all 10 of the other team's pins wins.

Regular lanes can be rented for $10 per person before 5 p.m. and $15 per person afterward. VIP lanes are $200 for two hours.

In addition to pinfall, guests can play games including "giant Jenga," cornhole and Connect Four on a 1,600-square foot patio. There are also plenty of TVs throughout the bar for when pinfall won't be the only game in which somebody's flinging around a football.

The menu of "elevated pub fare" is primarily small plates like wings, flatbreads, sandwiches and salads.

Bartender Rob Floyd has been featured on the show "Bar Rescue" and the show's host, Jon Taffer, and his partner, Izzy Kharasch, are consultants helping Pin & Proper get up and running.

Once the spot gets its liquor license (which is expected to be a matter of days) hours will be 11 a.m.-midnight Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Kids are welcome to dine and play until 5 p.m.
