Former ATL Official Indicted On Bribery Charges
The 11-count indictment includes barges of bribery, money laundering and more.

ATLANTA, GA — A former employee of the City of Atlanta is facing an indictment from the U.S. Attorney's Office in the city, according to reports. The indictment comes as part of a long-term investigation into corruption in the city.
Rev. Mitzi Bickers, former aide to Mayor Kasim Reed, is being accused of conspiracy to commit bribery, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The indictment includes 11 counts.
In addition to the $2 million in bribes for giving city contracts to two contractors, Bickers is accused of money laundering and filing fake tax returns, the AJC reported.

Federal agents are working with three men who have admitted to bribery charges and are cooperating. Former chief procurement officer Adam Smith and city contractors Elvin Mitchell Jr. and Charles Richards Jr. all pleaded guilty in the city corruption investigation, which has been ongoing for almost two years, according to the AJC.
