Here are the top three stories today in Atlanta:

  1. Residents of Atlanta's Westside will be able to access free blood tests this weekend for lead poisoning. The tests are being conducted by Emory researchers who initially discovered elevated lead levels in the area. The Vine City and English Avenue neighborhoods were added to the Superfund National Priorities List last month after the discovery was made. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  2. According to the Georgia Labor Commissioner, Atlanta's unemployment rate has held steady at 3.2 percent. The city's labor force has hit an all-time high of 3,227,869 which is an increase of 6,250 this last month. Unemployment claims also went down last month by 17 percent. (Metro Atlanta CEO)
  3. The cash bond for Christian Eppinger, 22-years-old, has been increased to $2 million following the recent press conference by the Fulton County District Attorney and the Atlanta Police Chief. Eppinger will now remain behind bars until his sentencing hearing next week. The initial bond was set at less than $500,000. (Reporter Newspapers)
