GA Schools Investigated For Discrimination Amid Israel-Hamas War
The alleged discriminatory acts began at the start of the Israel-Hamas War on Oct. 7, a media report says.
GEORGIA — The Cobb County School District joins another Georgia school system in being investigated for discriminatory acts amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.
According to the Department of Education, whose Office for Civil Rights opened the probe, 71 national educational institutions are being investigated "for discrimination involving shared ancestry."
A probe against Atlanta Public Schools opened on July 12, according to DOE records. Cobb County joined the nationwide list Tuesday. The nature of the alleged discriminatory acts is unknown.

The DOE said being included in the open cases does not mean a decision has been made regarding an institution.
The investigations are part of efforts made by the Biden Administration "to take action amid the 'alarming nationwide rise in reports of antisemitism, anti-Muslim, anti-Arab and other forms of discrimination' on both college and K-12 school campuses since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on Oct. 7," ABC News reported.

Cobb County Schools in a statement to ABC News said the investigation is for one complaint of an "anti-Muslim incident."
The school district said hate is not tolerated in Cobb County Schools as students should feel welcomed.
Probes were opened in California, New York, Massachusetts, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Louisiana and Montana to name a few states.
