GA State Reps To Hold Candlelight Vigil For Jamarion Robinson

State Representatives Park Cannon (D-Atlanta) and Renitta Shannon (D-Decatur) will host a candlelight vigil in Atlanta.

ATLANTA, GA — State Representatives Park Cannon (D-Atlanta) and Renitta Shannon (D-Decatur) will host a candlelight vigil and drilling ceremony Wednesday for Jamarion Robinson.

The 26-year-old was shot by federal and local law enforcement officials in August 2016. He was killed in his girlfriend's East Point apartment while authorities were attempting to serve a warrant on Robinson in which he allegedly fired a gun at police during a prior incident

The vigil is to remember the fourth anniversary of his death at the hands of police. It will begin at 6 p.m. at 842 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW in Atlanta.

During the drilling ceremony, state representatives, activists and mothers will each drill a total of 76 holes on a mural to signify the number of bullet holes found in Robinson’s body when he was killed in 2016 by officers from different agencies from metro Atlanta, led by U.S. Marshals.

The mural artist is Maisie Thompson, who has been commissioned for murals across the Atlanta area on issues of injustice.

The public is invited to join by wearing a mask and bringing a candle to light in honor of Robinson's life.
