Parts of north and central Georgia are under a hazardous weather statement with the possibility of strong thunderstorms, the NWS said.

ATLANTA, GA — Parts of north and central Georgia are under a hazardous weather statement with the possibility of strong thunderstorms Saturday and rain off and on through the coming week, the National Weather Service said.

Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Saturday afternoon and evening
A few storms could be strong to severe across central Georgia, with damaging wind gusts and small hail the primary threats, the forecast said.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible through late Saturday evening. The strongest storms will be capable of producing gusty winds, locally heavy rainfall, and small hail.

There is a chance of thunderstorms each day from Sunday through Friday. Some of the storms each day may be strong, especially Thursday through Friday, and capable of producing gusty winds, frequent lightning, and locally heavy rainfall, the hazardous weather statement said.

Counties in the statement include: Cherokee, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Macon, and Paulding.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers between 2pm and 3pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then a slight chance of showers between midnight and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 9pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 9pm and 3am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 9am. High near 79. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Monday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 9pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 9pm and 3am, then a chance of showers after 3am. Low around 66. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
