Georgia Weather Forecast: Evening Storms, High In The 90s

Here's when we're most likely to get a thunderstorm in metro Atlanta this weekend and when temperatures will get back into the 90s.

ATLANTA, GA — The temperature is going to make its way back into the 90s this weekend in metro Atlanta and evenings will bring us a chance of showers and thunderstorms. In other words, it will be a pretty typical weekend in Georgia, weather-wise.

The National Weather Service says there's a chance for thunderstorms every day this weekend in north Georgia. A few of those storms could be strong-to-severe, the NWS says, with strong, gusty winds, lightning and isolated flooding.

It looks like we're most likely to get some stormy weather on Friday night, when the chance of rain is 60 percent. There will be another 50 percent chance of rain on Saturday, dropping to 30 percent Saturday night and 20 percent on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the temperatures is going to start creeping back up. After forecast highs of 88 on Friday and Saturday, the weather service is calling for a toasty 92 degrees on Sunday.

Here's your weekend weather forecast for metro Atlanta, from the National Weather Service:

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Southwest wind 5 to 15 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 20 m.p.h. Friday night, showers and thunderstorms likely before 10 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Southwest wind 5 to 15 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 20 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. West wind around 10 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 20 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday night, mainly before 9 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. Southwest wind 5 to 10 m,p.h, with gusts as high as 15 m.p.h.

Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. West wind 5 to 10 m.p.h. Sunday night, a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 75.
