Georgia Weather Forecast: More Storms On The Way

See when potentially strong thunderstorms, with a chance of lightning, heavy wind gusts and flooding, will hit metro Atlanta this weekend.

ATLANTA, GA — After a foggy, misty morning, metro Atlanta has more thunderstorms on the way Friday — with much of the same forecast for the rest of the weekend.

The National Weather Service has once again issued a hazardous weather outlook for parts of north and central Georgia, as a storm front continues to pound the area. The outlook calls for scattered thunderstorms, mostly during the afternoon on Friday and the early-morning hours Friday.

A few of those songs could be strong, the NWS says, and gusty winds, occasional lightning and localized flooding are possible — especially along lakes and streams and in low-lying urban areas.

"On any given day, a few storms could be strong with the main hazards being gusty winds, frequent lightning and heavy rainfall," the NWS said in the outlook. As rainfall amounts pile up day after day, the chance for flooding will increase, the service says.

When it's dry this weekend, it'll be nice and warm. A high of 81 on Friday will work its way up to a steam 86-degree high on Sunday, while lows each night should be in the upper 60s.
